About
I'm Bahadır Gezer. I write back-end and data code for a living. At TomTom, I build the map data that ends up in cars. Based in Leuven, Belgium.
Work
At TomTom I work on Orbis Maps. My team builds the lane-level and road-level map features that carmakers' driver-assistance systems read, and I own features from design to the release a customer receives.
Before TomTom I was a back-end developer at Şikayetvar, Türkiye's leading consumer-complaints platform, and one of three co-founders of Leext, a hiring start-up that had paying customers and still didn't make it. I studied computer engineering at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, on a Sabancı Foundation scholarship.
Turkish is my first language; I also speak English and French, and hold a conversation in Dutch.
The dated version, with roles and education, is my CV.
Outside work
I sail. At Boğaziçi I captained the university sailing team, a race programme of more than 70 students, and skippered its return to the Campus Cup after three years away. I also taught sailing on weekends in Istanbul.
Beyond sailing I kitesurf and ride a motorcycle, and when I can I go to the mountains or skydive.
